MobileMobile & IoT ForensicsAndroid ForensicsExtract and examine Android phones, from ADB pulls to WhatsApp databases and ALEAPP reportsDCMFE Mobile Forensics Expert
The DCMFE is for people who work on phones. It covers Android and iOS extraction, SIM and memory cards and the app data that most cases now turn on.

What a holder can show
- Seize and isolate a phone so its data does not change or get wiped remotely
- Choose between logical, file system and physical extraction for Android and iOS
- Parse WhatsApp, Telegram and other app databases
- Recover call logs, contacts, SMS and location history
- Examine SIM cards and memory cards and recover deleted media
- Check extraction results against the raw data instead of trusting the tool
- Report mobile findings clearly for investigators and courts
About the DCMFE
In most cases today the phone is the main witness. Chats, photos, locations and payment app records often decide a fraud, harassment or murder case. Getting that data out correctly is harder than it looks. Android and iOS protect data differently, every app stores it in its own way and a careless step can lock the phone for good.
The DCMFE path covers Android, iOS and SIM and memory card forensics. You learn how each platform stores data, which extraction method fits which situation and how to check what a tool reports against the underlying databases and files.
Who Should Take It
- Cyber cell and crime branch officers who handle seized phones
- Mobile examiners in forensic science laboratories
- Corporate investigators dealing with company-issued phones
- Digital forensic analysts adding mobile work to their skills
- Students who want to specialise in mobile forensics
How to Earn It
- 01Choose the certification
Select the DCMFE on the certifications page. If you are not sure it is the right level for you, talk to a counsellor first.
- 02Enrol
Fill in the enrolment form and complete the payment. You then get access to the course material and labs on the DFRTI student portal.
- 03Study and practise
Work through the Android Forensics, iOS Forensics and SIM / Memory Card Forensics courses. The portal has video lectures, notes, lab exercises, quizzes and exam preparation material.
- 04Schedule the exam
Book your exam through the DFRTI portal when you feel ready.
- 05Get your certificate
Your certificate carries a unique ID. Anyone can enter that ID on the DFRTI verification page and confirm it online.
What Is Assessed
DFRTI exams combine multiple-choice questions, practical lab work, case study analysis and tool-based exercises, all within a set time. The exact structure depends on the certification.
- Theory questions
Multiple-choice questions on phone seizure, Android and iOS security, extraction types and app data storage.
- Practical lab
Extract data from a test phone, verify it and find specific chats, media and location records.
- Case study
Rebuild a sequence of events from a phone in a cheating or harassment complaint and state what the data supports.
- Tool-based exercise
Answer questions on a prepared extraction using tools such as ALEAPP, iLEAPP and a SQLite browser.
DCMFE Questions
Who is eligible for the DCMFE?
DFRTI asks for the prerequisite courses or equivalent experience in digital evidence work for intermediate and advanced certifications. If you are new to forensics, start with the foundation course and a counsellor will guide you from there.
What does the DCMFE exam include?
Multiple-choice questions, a practical lab assessment, case study analysis and tool-based forensic exercises, all within a set time. The structure varies by certification.
Can I retake the exam if I do not pass?
Yes. DFRTI allows retakes and the number of attempts depends on the certification. A counsellor can explain the current retake rules before you enrol.
How can an employer check my certificate?
Every DFRTI certificate has a unique ID. The employer enters it on the DFRTI verification page and sees at once whether the certificate is genuine.
